About Us

Who We Are:

Grace United Methodist Church is a small but vibrant congregation in Iuka, part of the wider connection of the United Methodist Church. We are committed to being the image of Christ to the world — sharing His love, extending grace to all people, and walking together as a family of faith.

Our church is a Lighthouse Congregation of the Mississippi Conference of the UMC. Chartered in 2023, Grace UMC chose to remain United Methodist because our identity, mission, and calling are rooted in the connectional life of the church. We believe that God has placed us here not only to serve our community but also to be part of a global family of believers who share a common mission: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The Wesleyan understanding of grace—prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying—shapes how we live out our faith each day. It reminds us that God’s love reaches out to everyone, goes before us, redeems us, and continually transforms us. Remaining United Methodist allows us to continue living within that rich tradition of grace, holiness, and service that has guided this congregation for generations.

Remaining United Methodist doesn’t mean we all think alike or agree on every issue. It means we love God and one another enough to give each other space — space to wrestle, to learn, and to grow. We hold fast to the major tenets of our faith: the authority of Scripture, salvation through Jesus Christ, and our call to love God and neighbor. The things we see differently do not define or divide us; love does. Our unity is in Christ, and our commitment is to live out His command to love as He loves.

We also believe that our strength is found in connection, not separation. The United Methodist Church gives us the opportunity to be part of something much larger than ourselves—feeding the hungry, responding to disasters, supporting schools and hospitals, and joining in missions around the world. At Grace UMC, we value the open hearts, open minds, and open doors that have always defined who we are. Staying UMC means continuing to walk together in faith, trusting that God is still at work in our church, in our denomination, and in the world, shaping us into the image of Christ for the sake of others.

Our Mission:

To be the image of Christ to the world through faithful discipleship and service.

What We Believe:

We believe in the power of God’s grace — prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying — that works in every life, drawing us closer to Christ. We believe that faith is lived out through both personal holiness and social holiness: loving God fully and loving our neighbors as ourselves. We believe in the central message of Jesus Christ — forgiveness, transformation, and eternal life offered freely to all who believe.

Meet Our Pastor:

Cheryl is an ordained elder, teacher, and writer who believes that grace changes everything. Her messages combine biblical truth with real-life reflection, helping people see how God’s Word speaks into their daily lives. She’s passionate about discipleship, outreach, and helping people discover their God-given purpose.

Our Vision for the Future:

Grace UMC is growing into a church deeply rooted in prayer, fellowship, and service. We see our community as our mission field and our sanctuary as a place of peace, welcome, and restoration.
