Faith in Action — Love in Motion
At Grace United Methodist Church, we believe faith isn’t meant to sit still. It moves — out into the world, into the lives of others, and into the places where hope is needed most. Outreach is how we live out Jesus’ command to love our neighbors, not just in words but in action. Every prayer offered, every meal shared, every visit made, and every act of compassion is part of our calling to reflect Christ’s love.
Our outreach ministry grows directly from our mission: to be the image of Christ to the world through faithful discipleship and service. We serve because God first served us, and we love because Christ loved us first. Whether it’s sending a prayer cloth, preparing food for families in need, or sharing God’s Word behind locked doors, we believe grace always finds a way.
Through our Jail Ministry, Grace UMC brings the message of hope and redemption to those who are often overlooked. We believe that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Volunteers share Scripture, prayer, and encouragement with men and women who are seeking new beginnings. Sometimes, the most powerful testimony of grace happens behind bars — when someone realizes that even in a place of confinement, Christ’s love still breaks chains.
This ministry reminds us of Jesus’ own words: “I was in prison and you visited me.” Every visit, every prayer, and every word of compassion becomes a light in a dark place.
One of the most cherished ministries at Grace UMC is our Prayer Cloth Ministry. Each cloth is hand-stitched, prayed over, and sent to those who are sick, grieving, or in crisis. These cloths remind people that they are not forgotten and that they are covered in prayer. Many who receive them tell us they felt peace and comfort knowing that an entire church was praying for them by name.
Grace UMC partners with local food banks and community organizations to help meet the physical needs of our neighbors. We collect and distribute food throughout the year, support local drives, and provide meals for families facing hard times. Our church sees this as more than charity — it’s ministry. Feeding the hungry is part of feeding souls, and every bag of groceries carries a message of hope and dignity.
We also take part in community-wide efforts to provide clothing, school supplies, and household essentials when needs arise. In each act of giving, we strive to make God’s love visible in practical, meaningful ways.
Grace UMC loves being part of Iuka’s story. Whether we’re handing out water at the Heritage Festival, offering prayer and conversation at our booth, or simply showing up where people gather, we want our presence to reflect God’s care. Evangelism, for us, isn’t about pushing — it’s about showing up with love.
Beyond our local ministries, Grace UMC supports district and conference missions that extend help far beyond our town. From disaster relief to international missions, we give and serve wherever God opens a door.
Still, we believe mission begins at home. Every visit, every meal, every kind word is part of outreach. Service is not a program here — it’s a way of life.
Throughout the year, we host special outreach services and events, especially during Christmas and Easter, when many hearts are open to God in new ways. Through music, worship, and service, we celebrate the story of redemption and invite our neighbors to experience it firsthand.
