Digging Deeper, Growing Stronger
At Grace United Methodist Church, we believe God’s Word speaks to every part of life — and the more we engage with it, the more it shapes who we are. Our Sermon Studies are designed to help you take Sunday’s message into the rest of your week. Each study connects to the current sermon series or Scripture passage, offering a chance to explore the text more deeply, reflect on how it applies to real life, and discuss it with others who are walking the same journey of faith.
These studies are written by Cheryl, drawing from the weekly sermons, Scripture, and Wesleyan theology. They’re meant to help you see that discipleship isn’t about information — it’s about transformation. Each study includes:
Background and context for the week’s Scripture
Discussion questions to spark reflection and conversation
Application points for daily living
Cross-references and Wesleyan insights to help connect Scripture to faith in action
Whether you’re reading on your own, using the study with a small group, or sharing it with your family, these materials are here to help faith take root in daily life.
Sermon Studies bridge the gap between Sunday morning and Monday morning. They remind us that what we hear in worship isn’t meant to stay in the pew — it’s meant to shape our conversations, decisions, and relationships.
We believe discipleship happens best in community. That’s why our sermon-based Bible studies are intentionally designed for groups of all sizes — from two people at a coffee table to a full Sunday School class. As John Wesley often said, “There is no holiness but social holiness.” We grow stronger in faith when we grow together.
Start with Prayer. Ask God to open your heart and speak through His Word.
Read the Scripture. Reflect on what it says about God, humanity, and your own life.
Discuss and Apply. Use the provided questions to dig deeper and find practical ways to live out the lesson.
All studies are written to be used alongside Cheryl’s, which you can find on our Worship page.
New sermon studies are posted weekly and a handout can be downloaded in PDF format.
Whether you’re new to Bible study or have been reading Scripture for years, you’ll find that God always has something new to show you. Join us as we listen, learn, and live out His Word together.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22
