What should I wear to church?

Come as you are! Some people wear jeans, others wear dress clothes — what matters most is that you’re here. God looks at the heart, not the outfit.

Where is Grace United Methodist Church located?

What is the service like?

Our worship is relaxed but reverent — a blend of traditional and modern elements that focus on Scripture, prayer, and grace. You’ll hear hymns, Scripture readings, and a message that connects faith with real life.

How long does worship last?

Services usually last about an hour, sometimes a little less.

Are children welcome in worship?

Absolutely. We love the sound of children in church! During the service, We have a short children’s message, and we provide coloring pages and activity bulletins to help little ones engage in worship.

About Faith and Beliefs

At Grace United Methodist Church, faith isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we live. We believe in a God of love who meets us where we are and invites us to grow in grace every day. Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture, shaped by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and lived out through service to others. As United Methodists, we hold fast to the truth that God’s grace is for everyone — no exceptions — and that following Jesus means loving God fully and loving our neighbors deeply.

What does the United Methodist Church believe?

We believe in the transforming grace of God — a grace that meets us where we are and helps us grow into who God calls us to be. As United Methodists, we emphasize faith in Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, and living out our faith through love and service.

What does “open hearts, open minds, open doors” mean?

It means everyone is welcome here — no exceptions. We believe God’s love reaches all people, and our doors are open to anyone who wants to know Christ or grow in faith.

Do I have to be a member to attend?

No. You’re welcome to worship, study, and serve with us whether or not you’re a member. If you decide to join, we’ll walk you through what that means — but you’ll always belong here.

Can I take Communion if I’m not Methodist?

Yes! The Lord’s Table in the United Methodist Church is open to all who seek Christ. You don’t have to be a member of Grace UMC or any church — just come with a willing heart.

How do I become a member?

Membership begins with a simple conversation. You can talk with Pastor Cheryl after worship or contact the church office. We welcome new members through baptism, profession of faith, or transfer from another congregation.

Baptism

Baptism is one of the most joyful moments in the life of the church — a celebration of God’s grace and new beginnings. It marks the start of a lifelong journey with Christ and reminds us that we are loved, chosen, and never alone. Whether you’re bringing a child to be baptized or considering baptism for yourself, we want you to understand what it means and feel fully welcomed in this sacred step of faith.

What is baptism?

Baptism is one of two sacraments in the United Methodist Church (along with Communion). It’s a sacred act of God’s grace where we are named as His beloved children, joined to the body of Christ, and invited into a lifelong journey of faith. It’s both a beginning and a belonging.

Why do United Methodists baptize infants?

We baptize infants because we believe God’s grace is already at work in their lives, even before they can understand it. It’s a visible reminder that God’s love comes first. Parents and the congregation promise to raise the child in faith until the child can confirm those promises for themselves.

Do I have to be baptized to join the church?

Yes, but if you’ve already been baptized in any Christian denomination, that baptism is fully recognized. You don’t have to be baptized again — one baptism is enough.

Can I be re-baptized?

No, baptism is done once because it’s God’s action, not ours. However, you can reaffirm your baptismal vows, which is a beautiful way to renew your commitment to Christ and remember the grace that marked you as His own.

How does Grace UMC perform baptism?

We typically baptize by sprinkling or pouring water, but we also honor and can offer full immersion if requested. What matters is not the amount of water but the presence of the Holy Spirit and the grace it represents.

Can youth or adults be baptized?

Absolutely. When youth or adults are baptized, they are publicly professing their faith in Christ and committing to follow Him. The congregation joins in promising to support and encourage them as they grow in faith.

What does baptism mean for my child?

It means your child is claimed by God, surrounded by grace, and welcomed into the family of faith. As parents, you promise to raise them in the love and knowledge of Christ — and your church family promises to help.

What if I was baptized in another denomination?

That baptism counts! The United Methodist Church recognizes all Christian baptisms — Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, or otherwise — as long as they were done with water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

How can I schedule a baptism?

Talk with Pastor Cheryl. We’ll discuss your story, prepare for the service, and celebrate together as your family and church family share this sacred moment.

About Ministries & Involvement

Faith comes alive when we put it into action. At Grace United Methodist Church, ministry isn’t something reserved for a few — it’s something we all share. Whether you love to teach, serve, pray, cook, sing, or simply lend a listening ear, there’s a place for you here. Every act of service, no matter how small, becomes a way of reflecting Christ’s love to the world. We believe discipleship grows through doing — through learning, giving, and serving together as one body with many gifts.

How can I get involved in church ministries?

There are so many ways to serve — from helping with worship and teaching children to joining the prayer cloth ministry or community outreach. You can start by talking to Pastor Cheryl or any ministry leader after worship.

What ministries do you have for children and youth?

Our Sunday School, youth gatherings, and children’s time in worship help kids and teens grow in faith through learning, laughter, and service. They’re not the future of the church — they’re part of it right now.

Do you have ministries for adults and seniors?

Yes. We offer Bible studies, small groups, and service opportunities for adults of all ages. Many of our ministries are intergenerational — we grow best when we learn from each other.

Can I volunteer even if I’m not a member?

Of course! We welcome anyone who wants to serve. Just let us know what you’re interested in, and we’ll help you find your place.

About Giving & Stewardship

Everything we have is a gift from God, and giving is our way of saying “thank you.” At Grace United Methodist Church, generosity is part of our worship — not out of obligation, but out of joy and gratitude for all God has done. Every gift, every act of service, and every prayer helps us live out our mission to be the image of Christ to the world through faithful discipleship and service. When we give, we don’t just support a church — we participate in God’s work of grace that changes lives, including our own.

How can I give to Grace UMC?

You can give online through Tithely, placing your offering in the box by the door, or by mail. Every gift — large or small — helps us continue the ministries God has entrusted to us.

Is online giving secure?

Yes. We use a secure giving platform that protects your information. You can make a one-time gift or set up recurring donations easily.

Can I designate my giving to a specific ministry?

Yes, you can note if your gift is for a specific purpose such as missions, youth ministry, or building maintenance. Otherwise, gifts go into our general fund to support all ministries.

How does the church use the money it receives?

Every dollar given supports ministry — worship, outreach, discipleship, and care. We practice transparent stewardship and provide regular financial reports to keep our congregation informed.

About Pastoral Care

At Grace United Methodist Church, we believe no one should walk through life alone. Pastoral care is how we live out Christ’s command to love one another — by listening, praying, visiting, and simply being present. Whether you’re facing illness, loss, or one of life’s many crossroads, we’re here to offer comfort, prayer, and hope. Through the love of Christ and the care of His people, we believe healing happens not just in body, but in heart and spirit.

How can I request prayer or pastoral care?

You can fill out a prayer request form on our website or speak to Pastor Cheryl after worship. All requests are handled with care and confidentiality.

Does the church visit people in hospitals or nursing homes?

Yes. Pastor Cheryl and members of our Care Team regularly visit those who are homebound or hospitalized. If you or someone you know would appreciate a visit, please let us know.

Can I talk to the pastor privately?

Absolutely. You can contact Pastor Cheryl directly to schedule a time to talk or pray together. Whether you’re seeking guidance, comfort, or just someone to listen, she’s here for you.

How does the Prayer Cloth Ministry work?

Each prayer cloth is handmade and prayed over by our members before being given to someone who needs comfort or healing. It’s a tangible reminder that you’re surrounded by prayer and God’s love.

About Online Worship

No matter where you are, you can worship with us. Grace United Methodist Church gathers in person and online to celebrate the same grace that connects us all. Whether you’re joining from home, traveling, or discovering Grace for the first time, we believe God meets you right where you are. Through Scripture, music, prayer, and message, we come together as one body — worshiping the same God in many places, yet united in Spirit.

How can I watch worship online?

You can watch our services live every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. (CST) on our Worship page or through our Facebook and YouTube channels.

What if I miss the live service?

No problem — recordings are available anytime on our Sermons page, where you can listen, watch, or download past messages.

Can I share the livestream with friends or family?

Please do! It’s one of the easiest ways to invite others to experience the grace of God and the spirit of our church family.
