Discipleship

Following Jesus Together At Grace United Methodist Church, we believe discipleship is more than learning about Jesus — it’s learning to live like Him. Discipleship is the heartbeat of our ministry. It’s how faith takes root, how grace transforms us, and how we grow into the image of Christ together.

Being a disciple means saying “yes” to Jesus every day. It’s a journey that begins with grace and continues through study, prayer, service, and community. Whether you’ve been a believer for decades or are just beginning to explore faith, there’s a place for you to grow here.

Learning in Community We grow best when we grow together. Through Bible studies, small groups, and sermon-based discussions, we learn from Scripture and from one another. Each study helps us connect God’s Word to real life — our relationships, work, struggles, and hopes.

At Grace UMC, we don’t just study the Bible; we live it. We ask questions, share stories, and encourage one another as we follow Jesus more faithfully.

Spiritual Formation Discipleship is the ongoing process of becoming more like Christ. It’s not about perfection — it’s about transformation. Through prayer, worship, and service, we learn to listen for God’s voice and trust His leading. Spiritual disciplines like Scripture reading, fasting, giving, and serving shape us into people who reflect God’s heart to the world.

Opportunities for Growth Our discipleship ministries include:

  • Sunday School (10:00 a.m.): Classes for adults and children that explore Scripture and faith in daily life.

  • Bible Studies: Short-term and ongoing studies offered throughout the year on books of the Bible, Christian living, and Methodist faith.

  • Sermon Studies: Weekly study guides that build on Sunday’s message, helping you apply it during the week.

  • Small Groups: Gatherings for prayer, conversation, and accountability.

A Wesleyan Way of Living As part of the United Methodist tradition, we follow John Wesley’s vision of a faith that grows through both personal holiness (a heart transformed by grace) and social holiness (love expressed through action). Discipleship at Grace UMC lives at that intersection — loving God deeply and loving people tangibly.
