Give and Serve

Missions & Service Projects at Grace UMC

Serving Others. Sharing Grace. Changing Lives.

At Grace United Methodist Church, we believe the mission field begins right outside our door — but it doesn’t stop there. Jesus calls us to go into all the world, and we take that call seriously, whether that “world” is our own neighborhood or a community across the globe. Our missions and service projects are how we live out our faith in tangible ways, putting love into motion and grace into action.

Service at Grace UMC isn’t about checking boxes or filling quotas — it’s about people. Every project, every partnership, and every outreach effort grows from the same conviction: that God’s love transforms lives, beginning with ours.

Local Missions

We believe ministry starts at home. Grace UMC partners with community organizations and local ministries to meet the needs of our neighbors in practical, compassionate ways.

Our local mission work includes:

  • Partnership with local food banks to provide groceries and essential items for families in need.

  • Jail Ministry, bringing hope, prayer, and Scripture to those who often feel forgotten, reminding them that God’s grace still reaches them right where they are.

  • Prayer Cloth Ministry, sharing tangible reminders of God’s love with those who are sick, grieving, or in crisis.

  • Community Outreach Events, like our booth at the Heritage Festival, where we connect with people through prayer, conversation, and presence.

We also participate in community-wide drives for clothing, school supplies, and other essentials throughout the year, joining hands with others who share the goal of serving our neighbors with dignity and kindness.

Conference and District Missions

Grace UMC is proud to be part of a larger connectional church that reaches far beyond our town. Through our apportionments and special offerings, we support ministries across the Mississippi Conference and the United Methodist Church worldwide, including:

  • Disaster relief efforts through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)

  • Hunger and poverty initiatives

  • Missionaries serving around the world

  • Local church development and rebuilding projects

By participating in these connectional missions, we join hands with other United Methodists to bring hope, healing, and restoration wherever it’s needed most.

Hands-On Service Projects

Throughout the year, Grace UMC organizes special service days and mission projects that invite everyone to participate — no experience required, just a willing heart. Some of our past and ongoing projects include:

  • Community clean-up and beautification days

  • Meal preparation for families in crisis

  • Seasonal giving projects during Christmas and Easter

  • Support for local schools and nursing homes

We believe that when we serve others, we meet Christ Himself — in the hungry, the hurting, the lonely, and the lost.

Why We Serve

Our mission is simple but powerful: to be the image of Christ to the world through faithful discipleship and service. When we serve, we don’t just give — we grow. Each act of compassion shapes our hearts to look more like Jesus. Service reminds us that the Church isn’t a building; it’s people carrying God’s love into the world one small act at a time.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
